Drumming at the Experience Music Project
Here are a series of pictures--you can decide whether artistic or undecipherable--taken of Liam (and Crispin hidden in the darkness) as he played a drum set at the Experience Music Project museum last Tuesday.
As a boy, I loved visiting my Great Uncle Werner's house and playing all the instruments, and I acknowledge we have something of that going on with my boys.
In a jam studio at the museum, I played a Hendrix sounding electric guitar, Liam played drums, and Crispin played keyboards. Ever flexible Crispin has decided he will be a professional keyboard player when he grows up.
At the museum, you can go on a simulated stage, with simulated lights and a crowd watching you, and play a karaoke version of Purple Haze. Crispin was too short for the keyboards but had a fine time playing guitar. Liam stayed on drums.
Here is the final picture.

Simeo -- the modern version
The boys and I watched the 25th anniversary of Les Miserables in Seattle last night. While the younger one did fall asleep (it is long), both liked it; Liam loved it. I enjoyed it greatly, too.
As they often do, the boys are creating a theater production today. What is different about today's is that as with Les Miserables (which runs in London in both its original version from 25 years ago and in the modern update--which alters the sets somewhat to match Hugo's illustrations and also alters the orchestration a bit) is that Liam tells me that this version of Simeo is the updated one.
